Record of events:
Btry shelled at 1130 by enemy. About 18 rds fell in btry area. S/Sgt Whitehead and Pvt Joe Watts, Jr were instantly killed when a shell fell approx. 15 ft fr No 2 Howitzer. Pvts 1cl Camardi and Watson, PVts Fusco, Nethery and Powell were SWA when the shell caved in their foxhole. Pvt Milton Powell was LWA in Left Arm and returned to duty. Rcn was immediately made for new position. Though heavy counter-battery fire cont'd, Sgt Bush, Colello, Deaton, Cpl Gartrell, Tec 5 Bowlen, Pfc Rameika and Colcho, Btry Aid man, cont'd to dig the wounded men from their fox hole. Sgt Bush, Colello and Tec 5 Bowlen were hit by shell fragments, but returned to duty, while digging these men out.
