Morning report B/330 for July 25, 1944

Station: 1 mile south-east of Remilly-Sur-Lozon, France1
Record of events: Remained in defensive position protecting the right flank of the 60yh Infantry. At 0940 a force of P-47’s started their bombing mission generally along highway No. 3 south of our positions. These palnes were followed by a large force of B-24’s and B-17’s which also bombed same mission. The air was filled with allied planes, and were met by a terrific anti-aircraft barrage. Two of the B-24’s were shot down and crew members were seen dropping out in one bomber. Bombing lasted until 1245. This orgn being in regimental reserve remained in position while other units began the attack, at 1300. Being well forward of other units a excellent blow by blow description was witnessed by the men. The air was black with smoke and dust, and particles of debris also bomb ranks fell in and around our C.P. Surrender leaflets were dropped by the thousands by our air force over enemy lines. We received heavy mortar and artillery fire into our position causing 8 casualties one of which was killed. A tree burst from a 240mm mortar. Every man was impressed by the tremendous bombing rains, and the destruction caused by the same.
