Record of events: Began to attack at 0900 towards our objective which was Mesnil-Vigot. We were suprised to find out that the enemy had broke contact and had withdrawn out of the sector. Continued in the approach march formation to la-Vinon-dre & met no enemy resistence. Continued from there on highway in advanced guard formation marching SE towards la-Cardonniere. Turned south on trail 800 yds N.E. from La-Cardinnoere in advanced guard formation to defensive position 1500 yds south of La-Cardonniere. Organised defence position & dug in. Enemy aircraft dropped one rocket projectal near our position and were pursued by three P-47’s. We also captured one German 2nd Lt - Paratrooper.
