Morning report B/330 for August 8, 1944
Station: 600 yds SE of St. Joseph, vS8161421
Record of events:
Remained into position until 1725 and used supporting weapons on very high hill, enemy strongpoint 900 yds to our front. Observed many enemy on that position, and layed small arms fire on them all day, causing many casualties. Also fire direct fire from four medium tanks, support of the company. Pill boxes and ammo dumps were blown sky high. At one time we ceased firing and 28 Germans surrenderd. Moved out in the attack onat 1725, after learning that we were in the 2nd zone, on a 300 degrees azimuth to get back in our zone. Attacked across a small creek to xxx highway and swung into the attack from there. We towards St. Malo. Advanced to the eastern outskirts of St. xxx. arriving at 2030, small resistances. Were caught in 88mm fire, inflichting a few casualties. Organized and set up a defensive position for the night. xxx out.
