Morning report B/330 for August 9, 1944

Station: St. Joseph, vS8081471
Record of events: Attacked due W at 0830 with 2 tanks supporting. Advanced 330 yds meeting occasional pill box & sniper fire. Then met more resistance & pill box above RR tracks 100 yds further W. Tanks would blast at pill boxes with 75mm fire, infantry would close in on position. In most cases withheld fire & enemy came out to surrender. Captured 2 officers & 6 EM at this point. From there advanced into outskirts of St. Malo, located enemy hospital & more pill boxes. S of Hosp captured 56 prisoners many officers, from majors on down. Used German aid men to dig forward emplacements & pill boxes telling the others to surrender. Many prisoners taken. Advanced to W edge of city, reached channel W of RR tracks generally N & S. Reorganized.
