| According to the memoirs of Frank Monan, Co. A 331st, Pfc. James E Holley was a member of Company A.
The morning reports confirm this. Private First Class Holley was a member of A Company. The morning report for July 10, 1944 on page 12 lists him as killed in action. The page can be seen below. Special Orders #176 from HQ Ft. Oglethorpe lists Private First Class Holley as a member of the original cadre for the 331st Infantry Regiment. He was transferred from A Company, 3rd Cavalry as a Sergeant. His original assignment was Section Leader (MOS 652) and he became a Rifleman (MOS 745) in A Company of the newly formed 331st Infantry Regiment. The relevant part can be seen below.
