Erwin Derhaag pointed me towards a newspaper article of the The Plain Speaker (Hazleton, Pennsylvania), September 7, 1944, page 18 which reads:

Mr. and Mrs. Frank McNally of 138 South Cedar street, were notified that their son, Pfc. Frank (Francis) P. McNally, 18, was killed in action in France on August 12. His death came only nine days after he returned to duty August 3 after recovering from leg wounds suffered in Normandy fighting on July 8. Pfc McNally, who would have been 19 years old on August 24, entered the Army on September 10, 1943, three monts after graduation from St. Gabriel's High School. He trained at Camp Breckenridge, Ky, before going to England in April of this year. He was a member of St. Gabriels church. Surviving are his parents and two sisters: Pvt. Helen McNally of the WAC, stationed at Enid, Oklahoma and Mary at home. His father is a Lehigh Valley Railroad engineer.
