Since have no later documents we assume that Technician Fifth Grade Metallo died while serving in the A Company.

Erwin Derhaag pointed me to two newspaper articles from The Berkshire Eagle, Pittsfield Massachusetts from February 7 and 9, 1945. From these article partially qouted:

Two Berkshire County soldiers, Pfc John Richard Amber, 23 of Pittsfield and Sgt. Louis Victor Metallo, 24 of Housatonic have been killed in action according to War Department messages received by their parents.

[...]
Sgt. Metallo, 24, died in Belgium Jan 4 according to a message from the War Department to his father Charles Metallo of Risingdale yesterday afternoon. The last letter from the sergeant was received on Jan 24. It was written in Belgium Jan 1. While there was nothing in the letter to indicate Sgt. Metallo had been wounded it is figured that he was and that he died from the injuries.

He was wounded last September and hospitalized for several weeks after when he returned to his division.

Sgt. Metallo was born in Pittsfield and moved to Housantonic about eight years ago. He graduated from Searles High School entering the service two years ago. He trained at Camp Atterbury Indiana and went overseas in the same regiment as Master Sgt. Philip Wiggenhauser of Piettsfield and Great Barrington and Staff Sgt. James Tripodes of Great Barrington. The latter had been back in this country and hospitalized for several months due to Wounds.
