| Erwin Derhaag pointed me to a newspaper article from the The Lewiston Daily Sun 6 January 1945. From this article partially qouted: RUMFORD -- PFC Donald B. Roberts, 30 was reported killed in action in the European theatre of war, on December 10, according to a telegram received by his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Blanchard Roberts, Hancock Street, Rumford. Born at Rumford, PFC Roberts attended local schools and Stephen high school. He entered the service two years ago, trained in Texas and Louisiana and was sent overseas last February with the Infantry. The article can be seen below. |
