| Technical Sergeant Orendorff was a member of I Company. The morning report for July 15, 1944 on page 31 shows him transferred to the 67th Evacuation Hospital on July 15, 1944 while holding the rank of Staff Sergant. Page 42, for July 18, 1944 shows his promotion to Technical Sergeant on July 17, 1944. Page 44, for July 19, 1944 shows him returning to duty from being lightly injured in action. Page 63, for July 23, 1944 shows him again wouned, this time severely, and transferred to the 104th Evacuation Hospital. The morning report for August 25, 1944 on page 46 shows him rejoining his unit. All relevant pages can be seen below. Since we have no later documents we assume that Technical Sergeant Orendorff died while serving in I Company. Erwin Derhaag pointed me to several newspaper articles from the The Gazette and Daily (York, PA). The article from February 23, 1945 is about his engagement to Miss Kitty A. Lightner, note that he was a Corporal at the time. The article from September 23, 1944 notes that he was wounded in action. The article from January 20, 1945 is about his death.
