Private First Class Thomas was a member of A Company. The morning report for August 2, 1944 on page 3 lists him joning A Company from the 48th Replacement Battalion as of August 1, 1944 while holding the rank of Private.

The morning report for December 17, 1944 on page 25 lists his status changed to missing in action as of December 10, 1944. The pages can be seen below.

Erwin Derhaag pointed me to a several newspaper articles from The Daily Mail. From the last article partially quoted:

Pfc. Charles W. Thomas, 36, previously reported missing in action in Germany was killed on December 10, the War Department notified his wife, Mrs. Dorotha Thomas, 502 North Mulberry street.

Pfc. Thomas had been overseaas since June of last year and was in the 83rd Infantry Division. His awards included the Combat Infantryman Medal.

Prior to entering the service in May, 1943, he was employed at the M.P. Moller Company. Known to most of his local friends as Tommy, Pfc. Thomas is survived by his wife and one daughter, Nancy.
