| Private Riedl's full name is Albert Michael Riedl. The picture is donated by his daughter Carol Riedl Higgs. Private Riedl was a member of B Company. The morning report for August 19, 1944 on page 33 and 34 lists him joining the unit from the 53rd Replacement Battalion on August 17, 1944. The morning report for December 18, 1944 on page 27 lists him as killed in action on December 13, 1944. Erwin Derhaag pointed me to a newspaper article from the The Pittsburg Press 15 January 1945. From this article partially qouted: Pvt. Albert M Riedl, 26, was killed in action Dec. 13 in Europe, while serving w ith the First Army Infantry. He had been in service for 11 months of which five were spent overseas. The article can be seen below. |
