Technical Sergeant Worrell was a member of I Company. The morning report for July 26, 1944 on page 42 lists his promotion to Technical Sergeant on July 18, 1944. The morning report for August 21, 1944 on page 24 lists him as killed in action on the same date. The pages can be seen below. Technical Sergeant Richard H Worrell was awarded a Silver Star posthumously. The commendation is listed in General Order 188 which can be seen here and writes:

TECHNICAL SERGEANT RICHARD H. WORRELL, 35448879, Infantry, 330th Infantry, United States Army. For gallantry in action on 21 August 1944, in France. In the vicinity of Carne, France, Technical Sergeant Worrell discovered that his company was being delayed by two enemy machine guns. With complete disregard for his own safety, he crawled forward over terrain covered by enemy small arms fire, and aided by a sound power phone directed mortar fire which successfully eliminated the two enemy machine guns. During the course of this heroic act Sergeant Worrell was fatally wounded by an enemy sniper. His outstanding gallantry, leadership and personal courage reflect the highest credit upon himself and exemplify the finest traditions of the armed forces of the United States. Entered military service from West Virginia. Residence: Princeton, West Virginia.
