For gallantry in action on 6 July 1944, near ****, France. As enemy machine gun squad infiltrated close to the company line and brought intense fire to bear on elements of the company. Without hesitation, Technical Sergeant Keaton took some hand grenades and, disregarding enemy fire, crawled to a point close enought to the enemy machine gun to enable him to put it out of action. His daring initiative and conspicuous devotion to duty were in keeping with the finest traditions of the armed forces of the United States. |
