Wendy Lopez from Les Fleurs de la Memoire pointed me towards a newspaper article from the Moorhead Daily News, September 6, 1944. From this article partially quoted:
Private First Class Donald E. Orvedahl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthuer Orvedahl, 1107 First avenue south has been reported killed in action in France on August 11. Private Orvedahl entered the service in March 1943 and was stationed with the ASTP at Auburn, Ala, Camp Shelby, Miss, and at Fort Meade, Md.
