Staff Sergeant Burns was at one point a member of B Company. The morning report for August 24, 1944 on page 39 shows him, in the rank of Private, as lightly wounded in action and transferred to the 127 Evacuation Hospital on August 22, 1944 Page 39 can be seen here as well.

Since we have no later documents we assume that Staff Sergeant Burns died while serving in B Company.
