The morning report for October 27, 1944 on page 27 shows him being reassigned from 1st Battalion S-2 (MOS 9301 Tactical Intelligence Staff Officer) to 1st Battalion S-3 (MOS 2162 Operations & Training Staff Officer). Page 27 can be seen here as well. Since we have no later documents we assume that First Lieutenant Schildmiller died while serving as S-3 in HQ 1st Battalion.
